Todays talks are being given by two photographers, one who works at the photography department at Leeds College of Art and the other, a well known face around the Midlands camera clubs , who having been inspired by his early photographic days spent at Derby City Photographic left the BBC to pursue a freelance career in photography.

Madeleine Phiri

Telling stories via Photography Seminar

I met Madeleine Phiri when we were both exhibiting at The Saltaire Artists Trail and was highly impressed by her exquisite photographic work and wanted to share it with the RPS members.

She shoots in both digital and analogue and prints in varying ways including producing beautiful cyanotypes.

At this meeting her seminar will cover her work and how she looks to story tell in her imagery, utilising many creative processes. She will   also run a short interactive session designed to help participants develop their own thinking when it comes to creating photographic projects and bodies of work.

Madeleine graduated, having studied Photography and Digital Imaging at Buckinghamshire in 2009. Since 2011 has worked at the Leeds college of Art where she teaches students of all ages.

Ashley Franklin

Ashley is a professional photographer working in the Midlands area and is often seen speaking to camera clubs around the area. He joins us today to deliver to us his talk about the wider word of photography.

The talk is designed to inspire and inform and covers many of the greatest artists the world has seen in photography, such as Karsh, Avedon, Salgado, Beaton, McCullin and Capa plus many others, members of of James Maude Camera Club reported this talk as one of the best lectures they had been to, enthralled from start to finish.
