The London Naturally Group presents an informal Sunday morning stroll in Holland Park.  A circular walk starting at Holland Park tube station, which is on the central line and also accessible via numerous bus routes (31,94, 148 & 228).

We meet at Holland Park station, a short walk from the Holland Park Road entry to the park.  We will then spend a couple of hours photographing around the 54 acres taking in the urban woodland area, beautiful Kyoto garden and the formal gardens of Holland House.

Details of Event:

Present-day Holland Park was once the wooded grounds of Cope Castle, a large Jacobean mansion, built in the early 1600s by Sir Walter Cope who was Chancellor of the Exchequer under James I. renamed Holland House when the Earl of Holland’s wife Lady Rich inherited the property. Today’s Holland Park has a good variety of locations for photography.

Home to the borough’s Ecology Service it houses a number of small woodland enclosure set aside to encourage urban wildlife to the park, providing an abundance of squirrels and bird life to capture. It also boasts the beautiful Kyoto Garden – an authentic Japanese garden in the heart of London – with it’s delightful water feature and resident peacocks, in addition to the more formal gardens of Holland House.

We will aim to complete the walk about 12:30 followed by optional lunch (at your own cost) at The Mitre pub, close to Holland Park station.
