A field trip looking at the rock formations etc along a short piece of the Torbay coast.
Meeting at the St Georges Parish Church, Barn Road, Goodrington, there is free street parking in the area, at 11am from where we will walk to Saltern Cove looking at the Lower Middle Devonian Rocks and we will then work our way round to Oyster Cove to look at the Dovonian Permian unconformity and igneous intrusion. Low tide is at 12.25 to enable us to get a good view of the rocks.
Later we will take the cars and move to Berry Head where there is a pay and display car park and cafe for refreshments, either bring a packed lunch or use the cafe facilities, and explore the old quarry.
This is not a purely geological trip, this is a public beach with the usual things to photograph which you find on a beach.
Good stout footwear is advisable as there will be rocks on the foreshore to climb over.
