Brian McCarthy ARPS

Brian McCarthy arps first came to Whatton, to an advisory day in 2015 when he was interested in doing his associateship.

He brought with him a set of images that initially confused many members as they thought they were the work of a stills photographer working on big budget hollywood films.

In reality the images were photographs of model sets that Brian had built in his garden shed, which he also used as his studio.

In 2016 Brian worked with East Midlands Regional organiser Stewart Wall arps who curated an exhibition called Shedful of Images for the students of the Grimsby Institute.

In 2017 he gained his associateship and also won the overall top prize in the RPS DI Expo, well done Brian.

During the exhibition week at Grimsby Brian spoke to over 1000 photography and media students and told them some amazing stories.

He will be talking to us about his work flow and images, all shot in his garden shed.

During the exhibition Brian was interviewed by Shy Burhan for Radio, the broadcast can be seen by clicking here

Please note that whilst the venue is easily reached there are no local shops so please please bring a packed lunch. Coffee and Tea will be provided.
