Join the SW London Group and enjoy Kingston Carnival – perhaps use this as a warm-up event for Celebrating London?   The Carnival, which started in 2000, brings life and colour to Kingston Town Centre by bringing together different local communities to experience a range of music, culture and food in a family friendly atmosphere.

For more information, follow the website here.

The main procession begins at midday at Kingston Guildhall, and lasts about an hour.  Carnival events continue in the Market Place, High Street, Memorial Gardens, All Saints Church and the Rose Theatre until 7.00pm so there is plenty to see and do during the day.

Roger will be our guide for this walkabout:   Judy will be the Assistant Guide!  We will meet at Kingston Railway Station at 10:30 for coffee and move off at 10:45.   We will arrive at the Guildhall at about 11.00am to catch the participants before the start.   Photographers will then be able to follow the procession or move around amongst the many events which are taking place.

Attempting to stay together as a group or to meet up during the procession will probably be unsuccessful, but we will issue everyone with mobile numbers so that they can contact us, if they wish or need to.   We do however propose to meet up at The Boaters Inn in Canbury Gardens for a drink and/or lunch at 1.30pm, for those who would like to join us.   This is an opportunity to take a break before continuing with more photography – or a chance to call it a day ….

Sign up to come along and join in the Carnival Spirit!
