I Shoot People, Amongst Other Things

Dave Mason's presentation will be based around his personal approach to taking street images, one that that shows us how his trained eye sees sometimes humorous or extraordinary in happenings that others may pass by. This is really summed up by a quote from Street Photographer, Elliott Erwitt when he says “To me, photography is an art of observation. It’s about finding something interesting in an ordinary place… I’ve found it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them.”
Dave will show results from various locations both home and abroad, illustrating the ideal locations and events where such images can be taken. He will also show a number of portfolios taken of other subject matter, often with a somewhat quirky content.

Biography:  A British born photographer, Dave takes great pleasure in finding the extraordinary in the ordinary, often documenting the surreal happenings on the city streets. He has been taking photographs for over thirty years, during which time he has enjoyed the company of other photographers in a number of groups including Arena, Mirage and London Independent Photography. In addition to exhibiting in group shows, Dave has had five solo exhibitions to date. He has lectured at clubs throughout most of England and Wales, as well as speaking to interested groups at other events.
