We are venturing to South Wales this year.

Join us in Bridgend for a weekend of photography and socialising.

Les Loosemore who gave a well-received lecture at the 2018 AGM is hoping to meet with us at some point in the weekend to show us some of the most photogenic aspects of Bridgend and its environs.

We will be staying at the three-star Wyndham Arms, Dunraven Place, Bridgend CF31 1JE, indicative prices are about £112 for two nights for a couple. You will need to book yourself directly with the hotel and can use the link below: -

The hotel can trace its origins back to the 17thcentury, but perhaps fortunately for us was fully refurbished in 2014, it offers 26 rooms. It has step free access and a lift facility to all floors.

The hotel is well placed being just 10minutes by car to Porthcawl and 30 minutes to both Cardiff or Swansea while beaches can be found a short drive away at Rest Bay, Ogmore and Newton. There is an abundance of history in the area and Candleston Castle is 3.7 miles away as is Ogmore Castle.

A more detailed itinerary for the weekend will be worked out nearer the event.

To ensure accommodation is available please book early direct with the hotel and also inform the organiser that you are intending to join the weekend to enable us to keep you updated.

About £2.5 million of European funding was used to create a "riverside cafe culture" by constructing a walkway along the River Ogmore,[13]which was completed in March 2009

We are proposing to meet in the hotel on the Friday night, bring a few prints along if you like for the group to look at, have a meal and get a feeling of what attendees may want to do.

One suggestion is that we may take the train to Cardiff, a very photogenic city, take in some retail therapy for those who wish to, venture to The Bay for some photography and perhaps a meal, some night time photography, again for those that wish to, and get the train back to Bridgend. Others ideas can be suggested and people may wish to do their own thing.

Sunday morning will again be whatever the group wish to do, we may possibly be able to get a guided photographic walk together or a speaker perhaps.

A very open ended, relaxed weekend, something to look forward to over the long winter months.
