Ellen Carey - Back to the Future

Back To the Future: The Avant-Garde Is an Address is the title of Ellen Carey’s lecture for the Royal Photographic Society on Friday, 17th May 2019 4:00pm–4:50 pm.  Her lecture will contextualize photography as a visual art and game-changer at the forefront of the avant-garde.

In her own words: 'abstraction in photography and lens-based art presents a contradiction in terms, and minimalism presents a further oxymoron. It is here, in the early stages of modern and contemporary art with its roots in photography, that my work has a context.'

Find out how this translates in to her photographic practice.

Tickets for the lecture are available from PhotoLondon here and are £13 (standard) or £10 (students)

Ellen will also be speaking at RPS House on Monday, 20 May 2019. Click here for more information.

The lecture is supported by the Chloe Johnson Imagery Fund.
