We will firstly visit the “HERE: Uncovering North Devon” exhibition at the Burton Art Gallery.

This exhibition will display unseen photographs by James Ravilious and Roger Deakins from the Beaford Archive.  Admission is free.

Then there will be a chance to explore the Bideford waterside and Victoria Park.

In the afternoon we will drive the short distance to the historic riverside town of Appledore, where there will be the chance to explore the narrow streets and alleys and particularly the famous Irsha Street – barely 10 feet wide, no pavements and a gutter running down the centre, there is plenty to see around every corner.  The town sits on the confluence of the Taw and Torridge rivers where they flow onwards into Bideford Bay and the Atlantic Ocean.  Across the river there are views of Instow and a mix of all sorts of small fishing and river craft.

The walking is generally level, although there are some uneven surfaces, including cobbles and has both Bideford and Appledore are both still working ports there are large areas of unfenced quaysides with large drops for the unwary.

NO BOOKING ONLINE IS REQUIRED BUT PLEASE EMAIL THE EVENT ORGANISER TO ADVISE OF YOUR INTENDED ATTENDANCE
