Mr Ray Spence

I am a photographer from Warwick UK. All my working life has been spent in education, from schools to University, initially teaching biology and ending up lecturing in photography. I have also worked as a commercial and fine art photographer and have co-authored (with Tony Worobiec) four books on photography and had one monograph of my own work published. I work in all photographic media, from traditional monochrome darkroom, through 'alternative processes', to digital. I am now just embarking on experimenting with wet plate collodion.

I have been a member of the RPS for more years than I can remember, working my way through from LRPS to FRPS in Visual Art. I was honoured in 2012 to receive the Society's Fenton Medal for my work with the RPS. I have chaired both the (now defunct) Printing Panel and the Visual Arts Panel, and am now a member of REAP, the Fellowship Board and the Distinctions Advisory Board.
