£12,000 in RPS funding to be won

The Royal Photographic Society has launched an open call for applications for four bursaries for 2017. These annual bursaries, collectively worth over £12,000, provide support for photographers and students in realising projects across the still and moving image. Those successful can apply the funding to aspects of a project such as travel, equipment, website or mounting an exhibition.

The RPS Bursaries for 2017 are:

Environmental Awareness Project Funding
£6,000 - Closes 31st May
The RPS, in partnership with The Photographic Angle, is offering funding for two year-long projects that will promote environmental awareness. The two awards are available for applicants in two categories: aged between 16-30 and 31 years and over.

Postgraduate Bursary £3,500 - Closes 30th June
To support postgraduate students undertaking photographic/film research or studying for Masters courses in Photography.

Joan Wakelin Bursary
£2000 - Closes 16th June
The Joan Wakelin Bursary offers funding and the chance to have work published in The Guardian and The RPS Journal. The Bursary is awarded to the photographer who presents the best proposal for a photographic essay on an overseas social documentary issue. Submission is open to all.

Cinematography Award
£1,000 - Closes 3rd July
The RPS is pleased to support the cinematography award in partnership with Depict!, part of the Encounters short film Festival.
