Call for entries: Open Walls at Galerie Huit Arles

17 August 2018

Closes: 13th September 2018

Theme: Home and Away

1854 Media & British Journal of Photography have announced a new international awards series, aimed at creating opportunities for emerging and established photographers to exhibit their work in reputable locations.

The first OpenWalls photography award exhibition will take place in Les Rencontres d’Arles during its 50th edition, displaying 50 shortlisted images responding to the theme ‘Home and Away’.

Entries to OpenWalls Arles will be judged as a single image by photographic experts from across the world.

The shortlisted images will be exhibited for a month in July 2019 at Galerie Huit Arles, a remarkable 17th-century mansion and gallery space. Three finalists will be invited to Arles, where one overall winner will be chosen by a group of key industry leaders at the show’s opening event. All three finalists will also be given full access to the festival.

The judges would like photographers to interpret this theme freely so are looking for images that capture a sense of belonging, escapism or identity.
