01 May 2019

Winner selected from among 9,000 entries from 77 countries.

Cauldron Noodles, which depicts a celebration of the goddess Nuwa, has won this year’s Pink Lady® Food Photographer of the Year 2019 competition. The photograph was taken by Chinese photographer Jianhui Liao. It also won the Food for Celebration category.

Andy Macdonald, who has headed up Pink Lady® in the UK (headline sponsor of the Awards), said: “It stood out from the rest in its category, however, for the way in which he made the subject matter, a community feast, so beautiful and atmospheric.”

Every year from the first to eighteenth day of the lunar calendar, villagers wear Qing Dynasty costumes to celebrate Nuwa’s birthday and eat big pots of noodles at noon.
