The Australian Chapter is thirty!

08 December 2016

Chapter: Australia

The Australian Chapter of the RPS has just celebrated its 30th Anniversary. To mark this significant milestone, members of the Chapter decided to prepare and fund the publication of a 30th Anniversary Photobook for presentation to the RPS in the UK. It contains a collection of recent work by 28 members of the Chapter, together with a statement by each contributor and a brief review of the 30 years of the Chapter’s history.

The Australian Chapter is the oldest of the RPS overseas Chapters and has gained the reputation of being perhaps the most active. Its members across Australia, widely scattered though they are, bring a broad range of photographic expertise and experience, supporting the RPS aims of furthering the art and science of photography.

The Photobook project was initiated and managed by Dr David Oldfield FRPS, and the book is dedicated to the late Jack Lanagan ARPS. Jack was the Chapter’s Convenor for 22 of its 30 years until his recent death in July 2016 and he contributed greatly to its success and longevity.
