Dubai Chapter of The RPS Meeting - 'An Evening of Inspiration' - Edition#2

Chapter: Dubai

The 7th Dubai Chapter of The RPS Meeting was a combined meeting with SBCF. The objective of these exclusive meetings was essentially to showcase the works of the members reflecting quality and individuality. Some of the 8 presenters featured in Edition 2 were presenting for the first time. Moreover, they were different from those featured in Edition 1. The two and half hour session featured a variety of topics; landscapes, travel experiences, photo journalism documentary, fashion, wild life and portraiture.

The 8 presenters for the evening were Sunil K. Jose, Vineet Naik Parrikar, Christina Fernandes, ARPS, Loganthan R, Bosckie Selarrka, Kumble Mahendra Nayak, Radhesh Rajappan and Syed Irtaza Kazmi.

Sunil K. Jose presented the ambiance and serenity of the landscapes from 'Gods own Gountry' Kerala in India. The images from this new location a recent hotspot 'Meeshapulimal' were crisp, colorful and showed the beauty of the countryside.

Vineet Naik Parrikar presented the exotic landscapes, pictorial portraits; monasteries, monks as well as children of Ladakh. He added his perspective on the meandering roads of this remote location. He ended the presentation with a time-lapse that was most breathtaking.


Christina Fernandes, ARPS presented 5 interviews with the refugees in the camps of Northern Greece. She touched all with the heartfelt situations of the people and their families caught at the crossroads of a tumultous situation that has left countless stranded and unsure about the future. She also displayed prints with captions. 


Loganathan R., presented environmental portraits of people from the most sought after destination in India for photographers all over the world - Pushkar. His images reflected the emotion and social situations he encountered in this most charming destination.

Bosckie Selarrka presented her recent successful fashion assignment and explained the process of her preparation and shoot. Her images were all sparkle and glam! The presentation touched upon tips and the finer details of fashion photography.

Kumble Mahendra Nayak presented his wild life images from the recent Masai Mara trip in Kenya. His images of birds and mammals were a treat to watch. The images reflected his skills in capturing action and the decisive moments with the subjects in sentimental moments. The images were well composed and had good technical qualities expected of natural history images.

Radhesh Raj, presented his thematic panel of images on horses. His images showed the beauty of his subjects with his good use of lighting, camera angles and composition. Most of his images belong to the fine art genre of photography and had a very individual touch. Radhesh incidentally celebrated his 10th Wedding Anniversary at the event!

The last presenter of the day was Syed Irtaza Kazmi who presented his favourite subject 'portraiture' His pictorial portraits all in monochrome showed a remarkable individual approach. He explained his process and provided tips on the subject. From young to old; all reacted to Irtaza's camera with a smile. He emphasized that his objective was to capture the 'happiness' in his subjects.

Also on display were prints and books. The Masterpieces of Late C.Rajagopal, FRPS, HonFRPS and Late BS Sundaram, FRPS, Christina Fernandes, ARPS, Clement Carol, LRPS, Manu Reghurajan, ARPS and  Mohammed Arfan Asif, ARPS were on display.

A few Journals and Magazines from the era 1930 to 1950 were on display. A few family prints from the Chapter Organiser's collection that included images from 1917 and 1922 were also on display.

A photo contest was held in parallel with the presentations. The winners of the photo contest were: 1st Award: Abbas Kapadia, LRPS; 2nd Award: Rajat Nahata; 3rd Award: Manoj Kumar VK; Consolation Awards: Dr. Usman Javaid & Manoj Nambiar.

The memorable evening ended with a group photograph.
