An Invitation

26 June 2017

Region: London

An invitation to join Honorary Fellows Anderson & Low at the Science Museum* on Wednesday night (28th June) for a guided tour of their stunning exhibition Voyages.  As part of its LATES programme, the museum, in conjunction with Pride in London, is devoting the evening to sexuality in all its forms.  And no, the images in Voyages are not X-rated.  They are, however, a perfect fit with the concept of seeing things in a different way, which will be one of the themes of the evening.  ‘The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes’ (from A la Recherché du Temps Perdu by Marcel Proust).  And it was this line that inspired Anderson & Low to portray ships from the museum’s collection as a series of magical images that evoke the epic journeys of myth and legend.

The artists are leading two tours and we’re recommending the 20:00h slot so that there’s plenty of time to enjoy some of the other ‘fabulousness’ that the museum is promising.  We’ll be meeting at the entrance to the media space shortly before 20:00h.  Admission to both the museum and the exhibition are free.

And if you can’t join us on Wednesday, you have until the end of July to see it, as Voyages has been extended ‘by popular demand’.  We’re not surprised; as the Evening Standard succinctly put it:  ‘JMW Turner eat your heart out’.
