Howard started photography in his teens, but only started making AVs seriously when he retired. He has been a member of the Society since the 1990s gaining his LRPS in darkroom monochrome prints and ARPS in Audio Visual. He was elected as vice-chairman in 2010 and as chairman in 2014.


Vice Chairman : Edgar Gibbs FRPS MPAGB

Edgar, is a retired Chartered Civil Engineer living in Cardiff. As a member of Gwynfa Camera Club, it was there that he saw his first Audio Visual presentation back in the early 1980s. He was taken with the use of light, blending images together with a soundtrack usually telling a story.  Edgar was the Group’s Advisory Board representative from 2010 to 2015 and is currently Vice Chair of the Group.  After Chairing the National AV Championship in 2015 he is currently Chair of the 2016 RPS International AV Festival.

Alan was a pharmacist in working life and has had a lifelong interest in photography. He has contributed his organisational skills at club and county level. He got interested in AV work in recent years. In 2015 he became secretary of the AV group and obtained his LRPS in AV.

Married for 46 years to Gillian we have two daughters and one grandson and I worked most of my life in the drinks industry. I took up photography in the 1980s using slide film before progressing to digital. I am a member of the United Photographic Portfolios of GB and the Ore and St Helens Camera Club.

Martin is Cheltenham born and joined his local camera club as a teenager many years ago. A retired Gloucestershire Head teacher, Martin has always been inspired by ‘capturing the light’ in his native County and the spectacular Cornish landscape. Martin has gained over 150 awards for both his images and audio-visuals, with acceptances in 34 countries. Martin started his audio-visual journey using a Pollock Duo-Fade, progressing to 4 projectors with the advent of AV software before moving to the HD projectors of today. A Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society, he has served on RPS and PAGB distinction panels and is well known as a lecturer and International judge in all forms of photography. An Honorary Life Member of Cheltenham Camera Club, he received the RPS Dobson Henry Medal for Services to AV in 2013.


Andrew Gagg FRPS

An Art and Design graduate, Andrew’s career began as a lecturer in a School of Art, before some years as a designer for live theatre. Subsequently he worked as a Production Designer for twenty years with BBC TV. A photographer since at least the age of ten, he’s a member of the Worcestershire Camera Club, and the founder of their still-flourishing AV group.      He also instituted the Worcester U3A Photography groups, still teaching Creative Photography twelve years after its inception. A more recent venture, his Audio Visual group is a growing band of fiercely dedicated sequence-makers. Andrew is a PAGB lecturer and judge for photography and of course for AV.


Alastair Taylor LRPS

Alastair is the editor of AV News. He started with AV back in the eighties in the days of two slide projectors. After a gap for work and career commitments, he came back to the art when things had turned digital. He has enjoyed some competition success at various AV Festivals and enjoys sharing the world of AV with colleagues both established and new to the genre – hence his willingness to look after AV News. Alastair gained his LRPS in AV and is a member of the Staffordshire AV Group. Alastair lives in Shropshire and still works as an Agricultural Engineer as the CEO of a professional institution with much in common with the RPS in terms of membership and awards.
