18 November 2018 - Richard Sercombe

"Urban and Architectural Night Photography followed by Creative Composites"

A look at the benefits of venturing out, away from another boring evening in front of the telly.

“My inspiration comes from a keen interest in modern architecture and low light composition. Bad weather is no excuse and I will be showing you some of the pitfalls, technical tips and ISO issues along with plenty of Photoshop ideas to enhance your work along the way”.

As the day progresses there will be a more challenging in depth look at photo manipulation to create composite images leading on from some of the ideas covered in the morning session.

“I developed a passion for photography as a medium over a 4 year period at Plymouth College of Art and Design doing a Graphic Design HD. This probably shows in my compositional and graphic approach to architecture and in the creative and artistic nature of what I do”.

You can see examples of Richards work on his website. http://www.richardsercombe.co.uk/

17 February 2019 -  "Inside My Head" by Janet Haines ARPS PAGB EFIAP GPSA

"Creativity My Way" is an apt title for Janet 's presentation.  She will be showing  prints and panels and how some of the images are constructed by breaking down her files.

Always had photography in my life.  Dad was a very keen amateur and had his own darkroom, which I loved being allowed in to.  Learnt more as a child from him than I realised about composition etc.  Grandma and brother are artists; I am a frustrated one not having the skills.  I now use my photography as my art form.  The work I produce I would describe as Photographic Art.

I always had a camera but only got serious from the advent of digital.  Won a local competition in 2003 and won a camera club membership.  Did my LRPS in 2006, following up with the ARPS in 2011.  Adding to the list of Awards I have achieved the DPAGB, EFIAP and GPSA. Not that the letters are important but the challenge of lifting your game to hit the target means your photography improves.

I love helping others improve their work and to see them gain in confidence.  To that end I have started, and continue to run, Study Groups to help others get the various Distinctions.
