Outing to Sharpenhoe Clappers August 28th

01 August 2019

SIG: Nature

Above a Field Grasshopper and Burnet Moth (together with rain drops).

Unfortunately after all the hot dry weather, ideal for butterflies, it had rained all day on the Saturday and the majority of people booked on the outing had cancelled by the meeting time on Sunday. Five of us met up and enjoyed a morning exploring the meadows and the woodland. I hoped to find roosting Chalkhills as over a thousand had been reported in the area. No luck but there were plenty of insects, moths, spiders and flies to keep us happy.
