About this image

The Island
was born from an urge to explore the stories of many Bengali guys who spend their nights at the gasoline stations in Rome helping drivers in exchange for tips.

Sat down, lighted by neon lights, their faces emerge from the darkness like castaways on a remote island waiting for a ship that can rescue them.

Mazid Mirza-Abdul, 58 years old. He is in Italy for four months. He would like to return as soon as possible to Bangladesh because he failed to overcome the many difficulties of a big city like Rome.
