About this image

Pink Toilet
was taken shortly after my parents downsized to a bungalow. To my mother's horror, this was the décor left by the previous occupant, which she soon set to work dumbing down.

My mother is somewhat perplexed that this photograph should remain as a lasting testament of the place she worked so hard to erase.

For me, Pink Toilet represents the shift from the family home; full of so many memories and attachments, to a place that will always exist as somewhere unfamiliar and alien. (Hasselblad, Kodak Portra film)
