When All the World is Still

About this image

In 2011, I was mourning a tragedy in the family and my then employer found it a logical move to ship me off to Iceland, hoping the trip would somehow rejuvenate my spirit. However, the rugged landscapes seemed to mirror my state of mind perfectly. One early morning, I came upon a lone cafeteria. All was eerily quiet, as if a silent apocalypse had just passed by and swooped up all life. I took one picture with my Canon EOS 500D and a standard 18-55mm lens. For the first time in Iceland, I felt lonely. Isolation, it seemed, is never the answer.
