About this image

The image is a tintype (wet collodion on blackened metal plate) made directly in a large format camera. The wet collodion process is notoriously fickle, and all manner of artefacts can appear due to variations in the chemistry. One soon learns that such imperfections are not only inevitable, but should be embraced. (MPP 5x4 camera with Schneider 150mm lens, exposure not recorded)
