About this image

A small group of Lemon Sharks (Negaprion brevirostris) feeding beneath a braking wave. Lemon Sharks inhabit coastal regions of tropical North, Central and South America and the west coast of Africa. They grow to around 3 metres in length and weigh around 90kg. Unlike many species, Lemon Sharks survive well in captivity and have been well studied as a result. This photograph was taken using a Nikon D2X camera and 10-17mm lens inside a customised underwater housing. Lighting was provided by two flash units.
