About this image

Following cataract surgery, this patient developed post-operative uveitis or intra-ocular inflammation. This lead to a condition called posterior synechiae, in which the posterior surface of the iris adheres to the anterior surface of the lens capsule. The image, taken after the adhesion has broken down, shows residual pigment left behind on the capsule surface.
