About this image

In the extreme southwest of Algeria, in an inhospitable environment without any resources, there are approximately 300,000 Saharawi refugees, some of whom have been there since 1975, the year in which Western Sahara was invaded by Morocco.

The Saharawi have decided to provisionally migrate to that place, in the hope of someday returning to their land of origin.

In this state of suspension and waiting, the women have proved to be tenacious and have become the keystone of the whole population while the men were fighting at the frontline.

Almost Forty years have passed and nothing has changed.
