About this album
Martin Addison FRPS
I have been an enthusiastic photographer for about fifty years and enjoy many different types of photography, landscape, street, close-up and most of all, creating images which are not representational, but intrigue (and sometimes confuse) viewers!
I love multiple exposures and started creating these as soon as I had a film camera which allowed me to do so. Digital cameras now allow me to see what I am doing immediately rather than waiting for the film to be processed. The overlapping of images adds depth and mystery. Mirroring is another fascinating way to create new compositions of familiar subjects.
Early in my photographic life I saw photographs by Ernst Hass of a bullfight where the bull and matador were beautifully blurred and I was hooked on creating images depicting movement. Ever since, I have been moving the camera, or allowing the subject to move to create impressions, rather than reality. I like the fact that only the camera can create these effects, we cannot see them with the naked eye.
I joined the Worcestershire Camera Club after seeing an exhibition of photographs which featured close-up details of flowers. I realised then, I hadn't really looked that closely and was missing out on so much beauty.
I think photographers (and artists) often see things like lighting, texture, design and detail better than many non photographers.
Photography is a great hobby which enables us to enjoy our wonderful world more fully, after all, how many people see beauty in rust and decay in the way many photographers do, myself included.
I am a great believer in getting the picture right in the camera rather than trying to rescue it in Lightroom or Photoshop, but I am not averse to experimenting.
The last set in the exhibition shows the effect of multiple exposure in camera and then playing with Curves in Lightroom to create some rather wild colours.
I hope that you enjoy my selection of images on display
