'Street Photography My Way' with Peter Crane ARPS Broadcast

Due to ongoing concerns about rising Covid rates the committee has decided to postpone this event yet again. Our apologies to Peter and to the many people who were looking forward to hearing him speak. Peter will be rebooked as soon as it is possible to hear him speak to a live audience - his preferred method of presentation.

Please join us for our November event, the first we have been able to enjoy in person together at Paintworks since February 2020. We will also be broadcasting the event live via Zoom.

We are proud to welcome renowned Street Photographer Peter Crane ARPS who was to be our live speaker in March 2020. It will be well worth the wait.

Peter will explain what keeps him curious and inspired to look for and capture that ‘decisive moment’. 

Peter’s instinctive urge to wander the streets armed with his camera has created an inspiring collection of images. While taking us through a selection of these, Peter will explain his approach to how to blend and be invisible when looking for characters and how to capture the look, so that the final image may move the viewer as it did him.

Contrary to the latest trend of street photography, with many exponents of the art favouring black & white, Peter will excite and motivate us to look for colour and similarities with composition.

Peter will show us his successful 'A' Panel, submitted under Documentary, together with his Statement. He will also give us tips on camera settings, best lenses, what to carry and wear.

Please feel free to bring Street Photography prints (maximum 2) you may like to show the meeting. Peter will happily critique them with his expert eye but may have to be selective about how many he reviews.

Peter’s lectures always draw positive feedback from his audience, who enjoy the entertaining manner in which he shares his insight.

It always helps to plan events if we have an idea of prospective numbers attending.

The committee has decided to continue offering online events free both to members and to non-members for the time being. Members will be given priority for online bookings.

Non-members wishing to participate must register a no-fee account with the RPS to obtain tickets.
