RPS Distinctions are now offering one-to-one portfolio reviews via Zoom. This means you can have a private, individual session with a panel member, who will be able to see your images and discuss with you the best way forward. This new service is open to both members and non-members alike and covers all Distinction levels and all genres. Your computer screen and that of the panel member will be linked via the Zoom app, which is free and easy to download. The panel member will be able to see your images in detail and have a conversation with you as the session progresses in a friendly and professional atmosphere via screen sharing.
This new service applies to both Print and Images for Screen submissions. If you are preparing a Print submission, then send digital copies of the images and the hanging plan. If you are planning an Images For Screen Submission, then send digital copies of the images and the sequence plan.
What are Distinctions?
Applying for our Distinctions takes you on a personal journey, exploring not just “technical competence” but how you want to develop as a photographer, how others react to your work, and what we want to say as a photographer. Therefore, we ask for a body of work that shows not just the content of the images but also the intent of the photographer. Essentially, photography has a purpose, and that is to explain, challenge, inspire and tell stories. Our distinctions make us better photographers in that sense, telling our own stories.
Which RPS Distinctions level is right for me?
If you are not sure, then start with the Licentiate (LRPS). To learn about the LRPS requirements please visit the Licentiate page. For more experienced photographers, who have an interest in a particular interest in a genre, then visit the Associate page or Fellowship page.
What happens after I book?
Once you've booked using the link above, your details will be forwarded to one of our panel members for the appropriate distinction/genre. The panel member will make contact with you via email to arrange a date and time for the meeting that suits both of you.
Which panel members will give advice?
A current panel member from the relevant panel will be allocated to you. Please see links below for a list of all our current panel members.
How long does the advice last?
The sessions last for 40 minutes. This may be extended but this will be down to the individual panel member. You will also receive a brief summary via email of the advice given.
How many images are needed and when & where should I send them?
Please send all images to the panel member at least 10 days in advance of the booked session.
Licentiate advice – 10 images plus a maximum of 5 spares and hanging/sequence plan
Associate advice – 15 images plus a maximum of 5 spares and statement of intent and hanging/sequence plan
Fellowship advice – 20/21 images plus a maximum of 5 spares and statement of intent and hanging/sequence plan

What size images and requirements are needed for the advice?
Please ensure images are no larger than 2400 pixels (landscape) x 1800 pixels (portrait).
Images must be named with two digits only, for example: 01, 02, 03, etc
