Bait Still 1 Neil (Isaac Woodvine) 2632X2000 EDF 20190118

Screening: Bait film screening

Event info

The Martin Parr Foundation and the Royal Photographic Society present a screening of the acclaimed film Bait. Please note this is an additional screening only and the main screening and Director Q+A hosted by Martin Parr HonFRPS has sold out.

Modern-day Cornish fisherman Martin (Edward Rowe) is struggling to buy a boat while coping with family rivalry and the influx of London money, Airb'n'b and stag parties to his harbour village. The summer season brings simmering tensions between the locals and newcomers to boiling point, with tragic consequences.

Stunningly shot on a vintage 16mm camera using monochrome Kodak stock, Mark Jenkin’s Bait is a timely and funny, yet poignant new film that gets to the heart of a community facing up unwelcome change. It speaks to wider issues affecting communities and how they respond to change.

The film has widely acclaimed and this is a unique opportunity to hear more about its making and messages from its director.
