The Art of Seeing  with Benedict Brain ARPS

Benedict Brain discusses various approaches to image-making, and how you can apply this to crafting your own photos.

What the day will cover
The focus will be on how and why images have been made through a variety of approaches - some technical, and some philosophical. Find out how you can use this knowledge in your own photography, and apply it to thinking about crafting and composing your images. This full-day session will be a mixture of theory and practical. Including presentations, discussion and a practical photography walk.

Out and About
We will go out and about in and around the Paintworks and local area to experiment with new ways of seeing with your tutor.

Back at RPS House

Images will be reviewed and discussed in an informal setting within the group and the tutor will give helpful feedback and advice. The number seen will depend on the time available.

What to bring
Please bring a digital camera with plenty of battery power and memory cards. It would be useful if you already have a good understanding of how to operate and creatively control your camera. But your tutor will be on hand to help. It’s not a problem if you’d prefer to simply use a smartphone camera and not let technology get in the way of your creativity and image-making.
