Finding your creative voice - A simple path to creative photography

This course offers a series of workshops for photographers looking to expand their practice. It presents creative “jump-in points” to explore themes and ideas, helping you to identify and refine your own artistic interests.

Activities will focus on building your visual toolkit as the course progresses and giving you the confidence to develop your own creative voice and harness this to produce beautiful photographs.

Through the practice of critical theory Jo will encourage you to deconstruct your approach to your photography and guide you through the process of rebuilding this. You will finish the course with new ideas about how you want to take your photography forwards as you continue to grow in confidence and skills.

Known for her 365-day photo project shot in her local neighbourhood, which attracted over 50K followers on social media, Jo will guide you through the fundamental steps to see creatively and find beauty in the everyday. The course focuses on realising and appreciating the artistic value in what is around you, something to relish in the times of lockdowns and limited opportunity for travel.

Beginning with an introductory session the course will go on to set various assignments combined with review and discussion over the following weeks. There will be ample opportunity to receive Jo’s unique insights into your own work.

Requirements:

  • Reliable internet access
  • Your camera
  • A computer or tablet with a working webcam and microphone (most devices have these) for the Zoom sessions.

Feedback for the course:

  • “Before the course, I had real doubts about my creativity, about the right I had to feel joy in taking photographs or to share those photographs with the world.  Now?  You have made me realise that there is creativity in me, and that I do have the ability, the right, and the capability to take photographs that bring me joy – and of course the confidence to share those photographs with others.”
  • “I am so excited to see how my own creativity grows and develops over the coming weeks and months, and how this newfound inspiration can also help support me in growing my business on social media.”
