This course is aimed at those using Affinity Photo on their tablet. There is a separate course for those using a desktop version.

Jo Bradford will teach you how to make your photos sing. You will be guided through a simple process for editing your photos using Affinity Photo software. Affinity is rapidly becoming the first choice for photography and creative professionals internationally, recognised for it its speed, power and precision. This workshop will allow you to unlock the full potential of this exceptionally powerful program.

You will be led step by step through a creative workflow introducing you to techniques such as cropping, white balancing, global and local lighting and colouring enhancements, healing and cleaning, sharpening, noise elimination and special effects with lighting.

Jo collaborates with Affinity as one of their ‘Experts’ to deliver talks and workshops and brings you her wealth of experience of editing with the software in this informative and relaxed course. She will give you her top tips and insight enabling you to produce exceptional images in a simple and intuitive manner.

For this course Jo will provide you with a set of her own sample images for you to practice on during and after the workshop, so that participants can follow along with the exercises.

Course requirements

  • The Affinity app loaded onto your tablet or desktop computer
  • A separate smartphone, desktop or tablet with Zoom loaded on it
  • Reliable internet access
  • No prior knowledge of Affinity or photo editing is necessary

The Tutor: Jo Bradford is an award-winning photographer and best-selling author based on Dartmoor in the UK. She is the driving force behind Green Island Studios where she has created a bespoke analogue darkroom and photography workshop and studio space. From here Jo takes pictures of the wild and windy moor from the studio doorstep and posts them on Instagram as @greenislandstudios where she has a large and loyal following for her smartphone photography. 

Jo’s international best-selling book Smart Phone Smart Photography was the first ever smartphone photography book to top the overall digital photography category and has lead Jo to develop a unique collection of workshops and courses in smartphone photography. Alongside these she creates cameraless photographic artworks that are sold in galleries all over the world, and are regularly exhibited and collected in Europe, America and Asia. 

Jo also works as an Associate Lecture at Falmouth University where she lectures on marine and natural history photography.

Born in Hertfordshire, England, Jo was raised in Southern Africa. Jo received her Master’s Degree (with Distinction) in Photography: Critical Practice from University College Falmouth in 2004.

Cancellation policy

Please inform us as soon as possible if you are unable to attend a course as it is not possible to refund any cancellation or transfer to another workshop less than 14 days prior to course start date. The Society reserves the right to cancel a workshop 7 days prior to its start date - please check your hotel and travel cancellation policy as this may be affected.

If you are attending one of our workshops that involves a trip out, please ensure you bring all weather clothing and protection for your camera. Persons under the age of 16 are welcome to attend events but, to conform with UK law, must be accompanied by a parent, guardian or responsible adult.
