Exhibition: International Photography Exhibition 162
Event info
The International Photography Exhibition (IPE) is a unique celebration of photography today, presenting work which offers insight into current approaches to photography, comments on contemporary issues, and introduces you to new photographers and image-makers from across the world.
The IPE is formed from an annual international open call, which is open to everyone to participate. Each year, the IPE features a wide range of subjects, genres, and experimental techniques, including traditional photographic processes, and each edition welcomes a new guest selection panel who curate the exhibition.
The selection panel for the IPE 162 included Shannon Ghannam (Global Education Director at Magnum Photos), Skinder Hundal MBE (CEO/Director of New Art Exchange), Dr Yan Wang Preston (Photographic Artist and lecturer at the University of Huddersfield) and Cian Oba-Smith (Editorial and Commercial Photographer), who were joined by RPS Director of Education, Dr Michael Pritchard.
First prize was awarded to American photographer Cody Cobb for his striking series titled Strange Land. The extraordinary images of stark landscapes were taken during periods of solitude in the American West. With New-Zealand based artist Chriag Jindal receiving the Under 30s prize for Into the Underworld / Ngā Mahi Rarowhenua, a remarkable series of work revealing a network of lava caves in Auckland, using LiDAR technology.
The work of the award recipients is presented alongside images from 41 international photographers.
For further information on the exhibiting photographers visit IPE online.
The RPS is grateful to both theprintspace and the selection panel for their support of the IPE 162.

Steeped in history, the IPE has been held almost every year since 1854, the year after The RPS was founded and is the longest running exhibition of its kind in the world.
