The magical world of close-up macro photography with Nigel Wilson.

On this one day online course, you will learn how to use your camera and lens to produce stunning images.

You will also understand how lighting (natural and artificial) plus good composition and pin-point focusing can transform your shots.

A packed day of learning and shooting.

You will need: Camera, macro lens + tripod. (Students can hire a macro lens from www.lensesforhire.co.uk for a very reasonable price).

Your subject can be anything at all - small with detail is always good - leaves, ornaments, flowers etc. Texture always looks good in macro.

You will be emailing your images taken during the day to Nigel who will be critiquing them and giving helpful suggestions – please don’t be worried by this, it’s done in a friendly supportive manner.  It would be useful to have a pen and paper ready to enable you to take notes.

Nigel Wilson is a very experienced teacher, leading inspirational classes at many institutions, including New York University, Photofusion and London’s famous Camera Club. He is also currently lecturing at the Victoria & Albert Museum, as well as running workshops for the RPS.

Cancellation policy

Please inform us as soon as possible if you are unable to attend a course as it is not possible to refund any cancellation or transfer to another workshop less than 14 days prior to course start date. The Society reserves the right to cancel a workshop 7 days prior to its start date - please check your hotel and travel cancellation policy as this may be affected.

If you are attending one of our workshops that involves a trip out, please ensure you bring all weather clothing and protection for your camera. Persons under the age of 16 are welcome to attend events but, to conform with UK law, must be accompanied by a parent, guardian or responsible adult.
