Why is the new Photo book Distinction Genre different to photo books in other genres?
During this talk our speaker, Stewart Wall ARPS will be discussing what the criteria differences are for the applicant when submitting a photo book for assessment in the new RPS Photo book Genre to when submitting a book in all the other genres. He will also outline the differences between the assessment approach from the assessors point of view.
This new Photo book genre was launched in June 2021 by the RPS President via his blog, and the first assessment is expected to take place in October 2021.
As a professional photographer Stewart has been involved in publishing all his working life, which began in newspapers in 1978, and has been involved in self-publishing photo books since 2002. He holds a degree in Photography and Graphic Design, a Masters in Visual Communication and is currently studying for a Doctorate in Design, where he is looking at the purpose of photography in research.
