Event info

Presented by Digital Imaging: Thames Valley

We regret that we have had to cancel this event, owing to the Coronavirus pandemic. We will be in touch with all ticket holders.

We are pleased to announce that Jo has kindly agreed to reschedule this event for us, on 18 April 2021.

Jo Teasdale FRPS
The Factory
The First section of this talk is the story of The Factory, which was awarded a Fellowship from the RPS. Jo will take you through her experiences centered around a disused factory, 'it was not simply a building filled with endless dismembered bodies - to me it was a part of my life being played out in front of me', and explain the process she went through to achieve the finished series.
My Adopted Family
In the second half, Jo will introduce you to her Adopted Family, 'a tactile and meditative series reflecting on the concept of inheritance, identity and memories.' In the absence of family, Jo has used treasured possessions, historical glass plates and 35mm slides to create her own family history, memories and photo albums.
Biography: Jo Teasdale comes from a background in Fine Art. A few years after moving to Brighton she was given her first DSLR and a new exciting opportunity opened up. The camera was no longer a tool for work but became a means of expressing her artistic visions.
Jo's photography follows two two distinct paths - Conceptual-based projects and Street Photography. She enjoys the immediacy and quirky, unexpected elements of street-life whilst her conceptual work is an artistic form of self-expression, often poignant and edgy, often unveiling elements of our human nature. It was this element of her work that was awarded her Fellowship of the Royal Photographic Society in 2017 for The Factory.
Jo is currently working towards her first solo exhibition in March 2020 with her latest project My Adopted Family.
Jo's images provide a strong narrative and often provoke an emotional response from the viewer. Her aim in her photography is to engage the audience to participate in the stories that unfold around her.
