Elevate Your Photoshop Workflow with Smart Objects
Smart Objects are a Photoshop tool that can open new possibilities in your workflow. Many of us have heard of them and used them. However, they can do sophisticated image adjustments that have gone untapped by even the most experienced Photoshop users. In this presentation, Sean Bagshaw will introduce the fundamentals of Smart Objects and demonstrate several ways they can be used to enhance your photo processing. For example, Smart Objects make it possible to:
- Avoid destructively flattening or merging Photoshop layers.
- Turn destructive Photoshop filters and third-party filters (Nik, Topaz, Luminar) into non-destructive smart filters.
- Retain access to original raw file data and adjustments in Photoshop.
- Exposure blend easily and flawlessly.
- Transform, scale and warp images non-destructively.
- Sculpt light and color using raw data.
- Make LAB color adjustments in RGB images.
• …and much more
Sean Bagshaw is a landscape and travel photographer, photography educator and experience junkie based in Ashland, Oregon, USA. His full-time photography career started in 2004 and before that was a middle school science teacher. He began taking photos in college to record and share his adventures on rock climbs and mountaineering expeditions. Over time his photography evolved from being documentary to creative. Now he spends a lot of his time chasing light, sleeping in a van, eating bad food and avoiding showers.
Photography has provided Sean with some wonderful opportunities. At the top of the list are being a member of the photography team, Photo Cascadia, and working with Tony Kuyper, the luminosity mask pioneer. These talented folks are his travel companions, business partners, close friends and constant inspiration.
His previous career as a science teacher makes photography education a good fit so when he's not creating Sean enjoys teaching and sharing what he knows about photography and image developing with others. He teams up with fellow Photo Cascadia members leading workshops around the world. He also teaches digital image developing classes, lectures and offers Photoshop video tutorials through his website and YouTube channel.
