This Engagement talk features Award Winning Photographer, Alys Tomlinson. 

Alys is an editorial and fine art documentary photographer based in London. Alys will share the thinking and process behind her most recent projects. She will discuss her five-year journey to pilgrimage sites to create the project Ex-Voto. She will also the talk about the documentary film she’s co-directing called Vera, based on a nun from Belarus who became one of the most important portraits in the Ex-Voto series. She will finish with her latest body of work Lost Summer which documents London teenagers who had their proms cancelled because of the pandemic. Alys was awarded Sony Photographer of the Year 2018 for Ex-Voto and three portraits from Lost Summer won First Prize in the Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize 2020. She has published two monographs - Ex-Voto (2019) and Lost Summer (2020).
