Happisburgh : The Village Falling into the Sea
I walk the North Norfolk Coastal Path between Hunstanton and Sea Palling every other year, a distance of about 80 miles. The route covers cliffs, stunning beaches and salt marshes - all under acute threat from global warming and the increasingly severe storms we are experiencing. The path is re-routed regularly as the cliffs dramatically fall on to the beaches and threaten the communities where people’s homes, often their only real asset, are being lost with little or no help available to them and no clear government policy on the erosion of our coasts.
My project highlights the destruction of the landscape, the neglect of coastal defences and the affect it has on the people whose homes are at risk.
