The park is a top UK site for ancient trees and supports a range of rare species including fungi, birds, beetles, bats, grasses and wildflowers.

We will be visiting towards the end of the rut season. There still might be some action and plenty of Stags to photograph.

Getting there:

From the Park Website. Richmond Park is accessible by public transport. Plan your journey using public transport by visiting the Transport for London website.

If you are using a mobile GPS device, the postcode for the park is TW10 5HS - this is for guidance only as the park covers a large area.

By Tube / Train

Richmond Station - National Rail or District Line (and then catch the 371 or 65 buses to the pedestrian gate at Petersham)

By Bus

Northside: 33 Hammersmith - Richmond; 337 Richmond - Clapham Junction; 485 Richmond - Wandsworth

Southside: 85/N85 Putney - Kingston; 265 Putney - Tolworth; K3 Roehampton Plough - Esher

Eastside: 72 Roehampton - East Acton; 493 Richmond - Tooting

Westside: 65 Kingston - Ealing Broadway; 371 Kingston – Richmond

Practical matters:

We will be meeting at 6 am at Sheen Gate so we have found some deer and set up ready for the “Golden Hour”. There is street parking available at Sheen gate. For those coming later the park gates open at 0730 for parking on site.  If arriving late or parking at a different gate, call the Event Organiser on 07922858231, to catch up with the group.

Please note that there are no facilities on site. Please bring a bottle of water and any snacks.  It will likely be cold and muddy so come prepared. There is a 20 minute walk from Sheen gate to the centre of the park.
