Monochrome wildlife images have become more popular in recent years maybe because of the ease of digital conversion from colour to monochrome. The Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition has added a black & white category and there have been a number of high-profile wildlife and environmental photo books with very striking and informative monochrome imagery eg.Sebastião Salgado’s magnificent book Genesis.
Dr Ian Wilson, in the third of his on-line sessions for the Nature Group, will go through the various techniques and tricks that you can use to create a good monochrome images and show how to perfect that image in terms of tonality, sharpness and impact. He will demonstrate using the Raw conversion in both Lightroom and Photoshop and will also include the use of specialist packages such as Silver Effex (Nik).
