CANCELLED - Visual Art Group Spring Weekend

Event info

Circumstances permitting, our 2021 Spring Weekend will take us to the birthplace of Shakespeare, a pretty and much admired market town offering a host of Elizabethan and Jacobean architecture, boat trips on the River Avon, a butterfly farm and much more, with places like Warwick Castle and Hidcote Manor not a million miles away. Speakers scheduled so far include:

Janice Alamanou, a multi-award winning international fine-art photographer who will talk about evolving from capturing the actual to creating the perception, with collections like 'Soul Elements' (amalgamations of images that invite the viewer to debate and reflect), 'The White Collection' (photography predominantly white, recreating landscapes and cityscapes with a difference) and 'Photography with Precious Metals' (her pioneering hand-gilded photographs with 24ct gold, palladium and copper.

Martin Addison FRPS who will give a talk and lead a workshop on how to increase your creativity, with emphasis on seeing images differenly, camera movement, multi-exposure and creative focusing.

Verity Milligan, a young professional who says: "Delving further into the art of landscape photography is rarely a straight-forward journey. There are conventions and expectations of the places we explore, but more often than not these can put hidden constraints on our creativity." Her talk will be an anecdotal exploration of grappling with self-imposed expectations and finding a way to "embrace the gloom". She will also lead a workshop.

Michael Pritchard FRPS, Director of Education and Public Affairs at The Royal Photographic Society and a photographic historian with a particular interest in British photographers, who will lift the veil of mystery from the Tyng.

Les Forrester ARPS, an architecture, fine art and monochrome photographer who is also featured in our current monograph.

Our base will be the Crowne Plaza Hotel, set on the River Avon and within walking distance to local attractions and historical sites.

The cost for our weekend is £285 per person, based on two people sharing a double or twin room, or £390 for single occupancy. This includes dinner, bed and breakfast for three nights as well as the main programme and ample free parking.

However, as the number of places in the optional one-day workshops (£60 per person) is limited and our weekends tend to get booked up quickly (especially the single rooms), we recommend that you don’t wait too long. Please complete the attached form and return it to me with a deposit of £50 per person. If you prefer electronic payments, please make a bank transfer to the group account specified on the booking form.

We very much hope you will be able to join us for this weekend and look forward to hearing from you very soon.
