Landscape Photography with Cath Stanley
Event info
In this event:
Cath Stanley talks about the challenge of landscape photography, with travel restrictions, localised lockdowns and her city surroundings. This last year has challenged her creative practice to explore not only new ways of making work, it has opened up a sense of discovery about her local environment. Her observations document flora and fauna, living alongside major intersections of motorway carriageway and residential areas. These small pockets of greenspace offering so much more than she initially contemplated, yet they become an integral part of her daily recordings.
Artist bio:
Cath Stanley is a photographer and educator based in Manchester, with a keen focus on environment and conservation. She is the founder of Landform a social media platform to support and promote the work of female landscape photographers.
Within her own creative practice, Cath enjoys experimenting with photographic images, is intrigued by the mystery of landscape, its personal significance and the stories her surroundings hold. Led by her curiosity, her images explore a holistically creative approach, often supported by narrative.
