Paloma Tendero is a visual artist working at the intersection of photography and sculpture. Her artwork explores themes around genetic inheritance, hereditary illness, identity and cycles of life. Tendero's multidisciplinary practice examines the body through a series of dualities. By representing the periods of change, metamorphosis and pain that the body endures from illness which it has no control over, her photographs represent the transient polarities of inside and out, health and sickness and transmutation from generation to generation. Her practice is influenced by her own personal experience of living with an inherited chronic disease.
"Through photography and sculpture I look for an interpretation of this co-existence of the healthy and the sick."
