What would attendees expect to get out of the day

Understanding of the skills you need to develop a more creative approach to your photography.

The day will allow you to examine your own personal approach to creativity and develop ideas, skills and tools that you can then use in your image making.

What would they be doing during the day

In the morning session we will:

  • identify barriers to creativity
  • look at what stops you being creative
  • identify tools to develop your creativity

In the afternoon session we will:

  • look at creative camera techniques
  • alternative ways of photographic capture
  • my personal approach to creating images

What you will be speaking about

The skills and techniques in creating images are not difficult to learn. Most of us pick up a camera at some point in our lives, in fact many of us carry one around in our pocket. It is easy to get drawn into the technicality of the equipment and forget that photography is about vision, imagination and seeing, or the ability to envision something in your mind’s eye and then make it happen with the tools at hand.

Throughout the day I will talk you about how creativity is a skill you can learn and apply to your photography, and how my own personal vision and approach to image making might help you to identify where you might find inspiration and purpose in your own work.

Short Bio : Glenys Garnett

I live in Wakefield and I worked as an IT specialist in a Further Education College in West Yorkshire for over 30 years.

After taking early retirement I started my own business in 2011 after obtaining a First Class BA (Hons) Degree in Graphic Communication at Leeds Metropolitan University. I can’t remember a time when I didn’t use a camera and have always used it in some way or other as a creative outlet.

I am a great advocate of sharing knowledge and I do this by helping others to develop and improve their photography skills and I particularly encourage the use of creative thinking and techniques to develop more artistic approaches to creating images. I am very active on Social Media and I have a YouTube Channel where I upload short instructional tutorials showing how some of my work is created.
