London:Bookworms July Online

This month, Roger Towell ARPS will introduce us to the work of Jane Bown, (1925 –2014) who worked as a photojournalist for the Guardian and the Observer newspapers. Her first commission for the Observer was Bertrand Russell. She is probably best known for her black and white portraits, many taken with available light, and on location. Bookworms will recognise many of her sitters, but she has taken other photos also, some of which you’ll see on July 15^th. Her photojournalism work includes the Glastonbury festival and the Greenham Common Woman’s Peace camp. 

There are many published books of her work including Exposures (2009) and A Lifetime of Looking (2015).

Meetings of the Bookworm Club take place monthly, on the 3rd Wednesday of the month when a member of the Group introduces the work of a photographer of their choice.  All are welcome but Bookings are essential
