Our starting point will Bethnal Green tube station.  The exits don't seem to have numbers, but we suggest you take the Museum of Childhood exit, which is signposted.  As you come up the exit stairs to your right is a cafe bar called  Chirinquito, which is beside St John on Bethnal Green (on the corner of Roman Road).  Here's the website describing the Cafe. 

The cafe doesn't seem to open until 11.00am so we will be flexible with the starting time for our walk to allow people time to grab a coffee (and a comfort break) before we leave.  There are seats and tables outside the cafe and in the Museum Gardens nearby.

On the other corner in Bethnal Green Gardens is a "Stairway to Heaven" Memorial to the WW2 disaster in 1943.   Photographs?

The idea is to make our way along Bethnal Green Road towards Shoreditch. There is a very vibrant street market here, with many stalls offering fruit & veg and household goods, and many languages may be heard. For a moment, I could have been in south Asia. There is also much street art on the walls of many of the side streets.

When we've had enough, we can take one of the streets on the right and make our way to Columbia Road, which was very quiet yesterday. Strange to see it with no flower market and few people - very different to Sundays.
