Midweek Explorers visit Isleworth

Event info

Isleworth is well served by transport links both by rail from Waterloo and by bus, including the H37 from Richmond, the 235 from Shepherd’s Bush/Chiswick and the E8 from Ealing Broadway.

We will meet up at Ballucci for coffee at 11.00 for a prompt start at 11.15.  Ballucci's is very close to Isleworth railway station :  here's their website and directions - Ballucci – Coffee Bar & Lounge

Our route will take us down St John’s Rd into historic Old Isleworth and to the River Thames. On the way we will pass the house where Van Gogh lived, two sets of almshouses, the oldest dating from the 1660s, entering Old Isleworth at Mill Plat, before exploring the historic riverside with its 18th century Georgian houses and river views. All Saints' Church, with its 14th century church tower, modern additions and ancient churchyard add to the interest of the area.

There are a couple of pubs on the river for coffee/lunch, the most famous of which is the 18th century London Apprentice:  here's their website London Apprentice in Isleworth | Greene King Local Pubs (greeneking-pubs.co.uk)
