London Naturally February Photowalk

Event info

After nearly 7 years of walks, London Naturally are calling a halt to our monthly walks with a final visit to the Walthamstow Wetlands.

Walthamstow Wetlands is a Site of Special Scientific Interest, covering 211 hectares the nature reserve is managed by the London Wildlife Trust. It is located in the heart of London’s Lee Valley making it London’s largest urban wetland nature reserve.

We will meet at the main entrance to the reserve at 10:30am in the Engine House building. The main entrance is on Ferry Lane/Forest Road, a ten-minute walk from Tottenham Hale and Blackhorse Road stations (Victoria line) and served by buses 123 and 230. There is also a visitors' car park.

We will take a leisurely walk along paths between the reservoirs, stopping at various points.  Birds we are likely to see include grey herons, cormorants, geese, grebes, many species of duck and smaller birds and if we are very lucky kingfisher.

We will aim to complete the walk about 13:00 followed by optional lunch (at your own cost) either on site at the Engine House Café or at the Ferry Boat Inn Pub opposite the site. There is plenty to explore at this location so you may wish to continuing photographing after lunch.

Full details about this site can be found at https://www.wildlondon.org.uk/nature-reserves/walthamstow-wetlands

Please dress appropriately with sturdy footwear and a drink to keep you hydrated.
